My Proccess is extremely EXPEIRMENTAL, AND intuitive in nature, I spend my time away from the studio thinking about the concepts I explore in my work. However, in the studio, Ultimatly i Have to respond to what the life of the piece is asking for.

BIO
Austin Lightholder is an interdisciplinary artist based in, Florida. Lightholder received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, with a minor in Sculpture, from the University of North Florida.
Lightholder’s work has been exhibited in regional and academic exhibitions, including Alchemy of Perception at MOCA Jacksonville (2026), the UNF Juried Art Show (2024), and the UNF Student Fall Art Show (2025). They also participated in Beyond the Stars at Untitled Gallery in Jacksonville, Florida (2024).
Working across a range of processes and materials—including acrylic paint, collage, charcoal drawing, plaster, wood, and oil stick—their practice is driven by experience, metaphysical inquiry, the reinvention of myths and legends, and alchemical transformation, emphasizing bright color and impactful visual language.
In addition to their studio practice, Lightholder has experience teaching classes with a focus on material use, process, and hands-on experimentation. Collaboration and community engagement are central to their interdisciplinary approach.An active participant in the Jacksonville arts community, Lightholder has contributed to collaborative public art projects under professional sculptor Aisling McDonald, assisting in the development of large-scale public sculpture installations in Jacksonville. This engagement with public-facing and community-centered work continued through their role as an Artist-in-Residence with MOCA Jacksonville in 2025, where they further developed interdisciplinary and publicly engaged practices.
